On King Kamehameha Day, the Los Angeles Times featured Hawaiian Legacy Hardwoods and artist Rick San Nicolas’s recreation of the king’s royal garb – made of 250,000 feathers. The project raised awareness for habitat restoration as some of the birds that provided the original garment’s feathers are now extinct.
